That doesn’t necessarily mean that it couldn’t be a one off. They did some oddball finishes. I heard about a factory surf green quad from a reputable source, and there were the red ones for Leon.
You are most likely correct, it probably is an old refinish, I just thought it looked very much like what they put on pedal steels. The lack of a decal is likely enough of a clue that it is a refin but I’d still like to examine it in person. Maybe I can convince the seller to remove a tuner pan... |

Removing the tuner plate or the pickup plate should give you a good idea on whether it is a refinish. As was stated in a previous response, Fender never hesitated to do any special orders for finishes, gold hardware, etc. _________________ Michael Brebes
