I have a Peavey 15 inch 4 ohm speaker. It says it was manufactured by James B. Lansing.
Serial no. Is 13313, model no is 70777022.
I spoke with Mike Brown and he identified it as a steel amp speaker but was unable to link it to a specific amp.
I acquired this from Doug Seymour many years ago and never used it.
Any help as to where this was used would be appreciated.

Appears to be one of the made for Peavey JBL's that were used in Session 400 amps in the 80's, maybe late 70's.
I believe it is a 4Ω version of essentially a K130 JBL.
I've had a couple of these speakers over the years. |

It is a JBL. They had a reputation for not holding up in the higher power amps.
That's why they were only used in the Peavey amps for a short time period.
Willis, If your speaker is still in good condition, It would probably work OK in an amp putting out 100 watts or less at 4 ohms. If it has voice coil rub, its a candidate for re-cone work.
JBL D 130 F and K 130 speakers hold up well if they are re-coned and reworked with new "heavier duty" voice coil material. I always have mine reworked with 8 ohm voice coils and none have failed so far. _________________ Zum SD 10 Hybrid, Zum D 10 Hybrid, Emmons SD 10 P.P.

Those 4 ohm JBL K130 speakers were also used in Webb amps. They did have a tendency to blow out. Mine lasted about 15 years. It blew on the last song of the last set of my last gig with The Wheelers. I took it as an omen. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

They are rare when they have their original cone. As others have said, the 200 watts of a Session 400 were more than they could handle. Unfortunately, the non-JBL re-cones just don’t sound as good as the now unobtainable originals. |

I have one in an Evans Hybrid 300 that used to belong to Maurice Anderson. It sounds really good in that amp. I only play at home, and I never push it, so it should last a long time. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |
