Does anyone know of headphones that can be used with a volume peddle? I know they make headphones to plug into guitars and all but I now live in an apartment so practicing my steel is going to need to be done via headphones and I want to be able to hear the impact of the volume peddle. I know I could buy a mixer etc but am just wondering if there is anyone that makes headphones that can go firectly into the output of the volume peddle.

Thanks!

You can use your own headphones with these:

Vox amPlug 2 Clean

Or they have these.

VOX AMPHONESBASS Active Amplifier Headphones
This is for bass but should sound in the right frequency range for steel

Does anyone have any experience with these VOX headphones in a PSG application? Would be interested in any and all evaluations. Do they come with a 1/4" plug, so you can merely plug into the output of your volume pedal and play without any additional adaptors or modifications?

My amp has a headphone jack already installed, plug in headphones speaker is bypassed. Still have any effects from amp/pedals/reverb...works awesome!

Since I recently purchased a used set in "perfect" condition, I now feel qualified to answer my own question.

They are acceptable, but not outstanding. They sound okay, but it's difficult to dial in a clean tone at a volume that's very loud. If you wanna sound like a slide guitar with some grit, they're great. If you wanna sound like a clean steel guitar, they're mediocre. Another complaint: In a sitting position, the cable is a foot or two too short to reach a volume pedal situated on the floor, so you will likely need an extension to use with a VP.

My conclusion: They're usable. Okay for the thirty bucks I spent on mine, but I would likely pass if I'd had to pay retail.

Im glad you brought this post up because there are alot of people playing at home just like you are .
To keep the peace around here between my wife and my girlfriend Very Happy , I also use head phones alot ,
I run my steel into a mixer , it has reverb and its also stereo , and also run my phone into a channel for getting songs off utube , and i have a mini disc
recorder in another channel if i want to record a utube song and play it many times over , its all coming from the mixer preamp out into the home setero reciever and plug the headphones into reciever , i have a ton of control over everything tone reverb and most of all , volume , ive been using these AKG studio monitor headphones for ever , open air headphones , wear em long time with out fatigue , and i can crank it all up as loud as i wish , its a perfect sound and mix ,
When not using headphones , i can turn on the stereo speakers ,old cerwin vega 3 way 12 inch speaks , and play as loud as i want , and it all sounds great at low volume as well ,
I have 4 15 inch JBL PA speakers but for playing at home the stereo speakers sound so much better smoother
Cant get a better monitor sound anywhere...
Got questions ??? , lets hear em .
