Sharon is now working on and is correcting her timing. With the help of her teacher Paul Franklin. Sharon is making a great progress with her playing. We would like to Thank Paul for all the guidance, teaching and support that his given to our daughter. Thank you so much Paul.

Nice job, I wish I could say I progressed that fast being a young player. Now it's time for finger picks..

| First time I have heard her in about six months!!!! "THAT IS PROGRESS" GREAT JOB!!!!!! Finger Picks for sure. I know the Newman Picks can't be found, but, if you gets some heavy gauge picks and bend the picks so they follow the tips of her fingers should help greatly. The picks will add some color to her tone. |

Kevin,
This is a track I recorded without using any picks.. I always keep a little nail and when I need the edge I can pick with a slight nail added, especially when I want to go for a Mooney type thing.....I actually started without picks and prefer not using them over using picks....Had I kept up playing exclusively with my fingertips they would not be so tender..After 10 minutes the tenderness wears me down but on a date I will take them off, especially on the Pop stuff...Buddy is on record talking about how he sometimes played without picks..Where's the problem?

| Very good Sharon picks are not needed..Bobby Seymour never used them ..your tone and attack is really improving...I watch for your latest offerings...watching you steadily progress is rewarding all by itself....David... |

| Going back about 40 years ago I started without picks also. Was Ok doing some slow tempo material. When I started progressing into upbeat tempo and single note picking I found the need to wear a thumb and finger picks. I seen guys play without them but they are very few and rare. Bobby Seymour did a fantastic job without them. Paul, That was great tone without picks. The video brings back some memories from long ago. |

| Looks like she is doing very well with Franklin and if he wanted her to use picks I'm quite sure sure he would be advising her to do so and down the road she may change over but I think she is doing very well for what little time she has been doing PF lessons IMHO |

Kevin,
I understand the nostalgia of the past, "It worked well for me, so that's what everyone should do" ....Here's the problem with advising Sharon to follow what was true for you 40 years ago....Its not 40 years ago, for her, nor all of the new students to the instrument! In their work place they will not be playing instrumentals as most teach today....What they really need is a complete understanding of how musical ideas are composed, how to copy when needed, and how to find all of that on the instrument the fastest ways possible...They are expected to play and communicate anything with the technical prowess for playing whatever is asked of them.....That is their world..The world of music is hungry for steel guitarists with new sounds from the instrument, new ways of thinking, being ready for what's ahead is what Sharon is learning.

Thank you Paul ^_^ , Your comment really made her day. She's giggling around right now ha ha ha. She's still working on this song. She also trying to apply volume pedal she learned in the PFM with other songs what a big difference when volume pedal is applied. Thank you, Grace

I can see not using finger picks,,,seems like a thumb pick would very helpful.
This young lady has progressed by leaps and bounds,,,she certainly has more discipline than most of us!!! |
