There's a ProII on eBay now that's kinda odd & interesting. It's a custom job made for Big Jim Vest... nice gtr.
My question is... The keyheads are Gumby style, but they're shorter than stock gumby keyheads. It's been my understanding that when Sho-Bud made a gtr with a longer than 24" scale - Lloyd Green's, for example - they shortened the keyhead by a 1/4 inch or so, making the neck a little longer, rather than extending the body of the gtr. You can see this clearly in the top-view pic, and it's pretty obvious in the front-on pic.
If you look closely at Lloyd's gtr, it also appears to have a shorter keyhead which doesn't quite extend to the end of the body.
So does anybody know the story? Do the shorter keyheads mean a longer scale?
I emailed the seller, but haven't heard back yet.
Thanks all... and btw, I have no connection with this gtr - just curious.
P.S. I just heard back from the seller and he say's it measures 24".
Wonder what the deal is with the short keyheads??

Yes; the shorter keyhead doesn't nessessarily mean a longer scale. Those keyheads were custom made to reduce some of the overtones and histerics(sp?)for more precise tuning capabilities.
Those necks don't look longer to me...but I guess the only way to tell the scale is measure it; and better hope that if it is a longer scale; that the fretboard is custom made for that scale.
Pretty guitar....>looks like possibly the late Dick Miller; might of done that inlay work??

The guitar was built/assembled by Paul Franklin Sr. That info was posted on this forum by Paul Franklin way back on 25 Dec 1997. No idea who did the body or inlay.
A few years back Dick Miller was going to build me a guitar (Bethel) from some birdseye he had been saving for himself and I was going to have it finished in natural since the wood was so incredible. This was a tremendously generous thing for Dick to offer to do but foolishly I passed up on his offer. Actually this offer was made during a visit to his trailer/workshop, and when I knocked on the door, Jerry Fessenden opened the door! Both Jerry and Dick dropped everything they were doing just to spend time with me for a few hours! I'll never forget their hospitality.
The scale is exactly 24" (within a 1/32") and the overall guitar length is 33 5/8" from one end casting outside edge to the other. Gumby's are 6 5/8" long, 1 1/8" from edge, changer is 15/16" from edge of guitar.

It looks like it has had some modifications under the hood also. The knee levers are not of the same style.

The guitar had 8 floor and 5 knees when I recieved it. I added 3 more knee levers and they work like a dream.
