Not a closet classic, this baby's a player. Case disintegrated years ago, as did the original tuners.Not sure what year, but they started making these in the 40"s. Some bonehead out a strap button on the end (Umm, that would be me). Original P-90 and electronics. Great for classic country/ westers swing, or throw a overdrive on it and rock out!

Brings back memories from the 40's. My first electric steel was the BR9 and it got played a lot in my very early days.

do you know if this is with adjustable poles or not? you are right, it is a player. i have the br9 amp and may want to pair this with the amp.

I believe it is a P90,just not with adjustable pole pieces. From what I've read,in 1954 Gibson changed the finish on the BR9 to a "crinkle" finish and added the adjustable pole pieces through 1958 when they stopped making them...so the earlier smoother finish BR9 pickups are non adjustable. I love these guitars and use mine all the time for R&R/Blues...the pickup screams ! Hope this is helpful...

FYI
Slug poles on an oval pickup would indicate 1947-1951. The vertically stamped number on the back of the headstock would indicate the instrument was originally built for export, likely to Canada. |
