Hi all,
I’ve got a Session 500 in decent shape that is languishing in my home. It was having some intermittent issues cutting out (seems to go away once it’s “warmed upâ€) while I was playing, so I had just been using it for a practice amp. Includes the original remote leg attachment. Local pickup/meet in the Austin/Central Texas area.
*EDIT* I’m also willing to trade - looking for a bari neck for my Tele, or a tasteful bass guitar.
$225

I had one of those about 30 years ago. Had the same problem. Took it to a Peavey repair facility. What he found was that the solder connections all had to be cleaned. The oxidation is what was shorting it out. The constant heating and cooling caused the oxidation. Cheap solder is what I was told. Worked Ok after that. Had one Hell of a sound. I sold it because it was getting to be a nut buster to carry. Went to a NV400 after that. Been using NV112's for 12 years now. |

Best steel amp ever built but my two stay at home now that I'm 65 with severe arthritis in my knees. I had mine recapped recently and they sound like new. I use the preamp out to record with them. It pretty much records the same sound as the amp less the room acoustics and mic. You get to monitor from the amp nearly what was recorded. I wish all amps had that feature. I'm thinking about putting a dummy load (power soak) on the speaker outputs of my tube amps to achieve the same purpose. |

Thanks for the support, y’all! I do love this amp but I’ve got no time to use it. _________________ ZB Student 3+1, Session 500

I don´t think it`s a 1971 model. It´s somewhere around 1977-1981 I guess.
Peavey started around 1974 making steel amps and the first one`s came with JBL´s. A little later they started making the BW speaker that could handle the power of the powerful amp and the C6th tuning.
Maybe Mike Brown could chime in.

As I rember there was a early version og the Session 500 that had a Session 400 size cabinet.
Maybe I’m drifting off topic now..

Thanks for the correction, everyone. It was sold to me as a 1971 so I just took the seller’s word for it. It does have a Black Widow speaker FWIW. _________________ ZB Student 3+1, Session 500
