Hello all,
A fella just dropped this guitar for me to get into playing shape, but I'm stumped!
It has a serial # of 2984 and was (so I'm told} originally bought by a player in Texas.
S-10 with 6 pedals and 1 knee.
Could it have been a C6 guitar?
The strings (what's left of them) on the guitar as it was delivered don't seem to be of C6 gauges, more like E9.
It seems a unique enough of a guitar that someone out there in the hive might even recognize it. It apparently left Texas a little over 20 years ago and has been in a closet ever since.
Any insights you might have are extremely welcome, thank you!
Tim

That is a model 6140. The knee lever was optional. Yours looks like Day E9.

Mike, looks like you've nailed it. Subsequent research has verified this.
It's a WEIRD guitar! _________________ Sho-Bud Super Pro, Mullen G2, Justice Pro Lite, Evans E200, Peavey Nashville 112 |

It would make a great candidate to set up as a 10-string "universal." _________________ RICK ABBOTT

That one is in beautiful condition.
My first steel was one of those, without the knee lever. It had a gorgeous woody tone.
This would be a great candidate for a C6 setup. _________________ Excel Superb U12, MIJ Squier tele, modified Deluxe Reverb RI, Cube 80XL, self built acoustics & mandolins |

Yes! A very nice 6140. With a few more KL's this gtr is perfect for one of the 10 string Uni setups. And original AB pots...
Very cool, Tim. |

Interesting. Built by Paul Franklin Sr. Sold to Blackie Taylor's Music. I wonder who the original owner was. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . There's magic in a stack of 100 dollar bills. The trick is to use the shortest stack possible! _________________ RICK ABBOTT
