I have the Lexicon add on for my computer recordings. The best I have found. Very versatile. |

I have that combo, TCA500A with the Lexicon, which comes with several preprogrammed useful settings that work great for steel. I am 100% satisfied with both the amp and the effects - I am unlikely to ever even bother to try anything else at this point, since it fits my needs perfectly. I also use an Eventide H9 max for various other types of effects so I can just leave the Lexicon set for the basic sound. If you check my YouTube channel, any of the steel recordings done in the last few years are recorded with the TCA500. I use a darker, jazzier tone, but the amp is capable of almost any type of tone you prefer. _________________ Christopher Woitach

I have the Telonics rack with the Lexicon. Can't imagine wanting or needing anything else. It is totally transparent so all I'm aware of while I'm playing is the guitar. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

I have two! One for home and one for gigs. They're the best. Be careful of putting the combo amp face down in your car on top of your steel case. When the amp slid past the edge of the steel case, I destroyed the main knob on the Lexicon and ending up replacing the unit. By the way, the Telonics settings for the Lexicon are great. I use 9 and 10 a lot and sometimes use other settings for use in a particular song. |

I’m the odd guy out. I bought a used Telonics 500C with a new Lexicon processor and did not like it....the highs were zingy and the overall tone was a bit dull. Given the rave reviews and reputation for the Telonics amp, I ultimately pulled the Lexicon out.
It was a night & day difference - for the better. I then used a Wampler Faux Analog Delay + a Wet Reverb in line with the 500C and loved the tone I got. The amp tone was much more responsive and open. I have since replaced the pedals with as Benado Steel Dream and love ithe amp even more. |

But Greg, that's the TC G2 not the Lexicon.
There is a caveat with the Lexicon - it needs to operate fully wet to avoid the latency in its direct sound interfering destructively with the direct path through the amp. Mine was pre-owned and some of the presets mixed direct and reverb. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Thanks, Ian. I didn't know that, or maybe Dave told me and it went right past me without sticking. Wow. It's even better now! |
