Looking for feedback/opinions from anyone who has the Sarno V-8 Octal into a Nashville 400 amp. Thanks, Carl

Being a preamp, wouldn't it be best going into the power amp in Jack on the back of the amp? That's how I always ran a preamp (Evans) into a NV400.

I’ve never had a pre-amp Richard but that would make sense. Did your Evans pre-amp enhance your sound out of the 400? Thanks for your input...Carl

I tested the Sarno V-8 through my NV 112. It was as good or better than the dedicated pre-amp I bought for it. I can't see how the Nashville 400 wouldn't be as good or better. The V-8 really quiet.

Appreciate it Robert...I’ve only owned two steel guitar amps (both Peavey) since ‘74 and my current NV400 is 30 years old. Just looking to enhance/inspire, etc. you know how it goes... Thanks again, Carl

It didn't really "enhance" the sound. By using the power amp in, it bypasses the preamp section of the 400. So basically it is just an Evan's amp. I could never see the logic of running a preamp into another preamp (in the 400). If I get the stand alone preamp tone set the way I want, I don't want the amps internal tone controls fighting the preamp's tone. Just doesn't make sense to me. BUT, if it's a tube preamp, that might be good into the front end of an amp to get the warmth of the tubes. I would still run it in the power amp in though.

If memory serves me right, on a Nashville 400 if you run to the back power amp in the power amp is wide open. I always ran to the input of the front loop then the master volume worked and it bypassed the preamp. On a Nashville 112 you can plug into the back power amp in and still have use of the master volume control.
