Hi, I just purchased an old Sierra Olympic D-10. Missing a few parts but nothing critical for me. Did the topic of "weight" ever come up during the design phase of this guitar? Holy cow! I had to repair a few things but will soon be ready to set it up and see how out of wack the underside is. It looks pretty straightforward underneath but we shall see. Anybody still have parts? _________________ Tele, Strat

Well I assembled it as you see in the picture. (The picture is from the previous owner). As you can see this puts the pedal bar about 3 or 4 inches off the ground. My ankles don't flex that much. I moved the 2 guide pins down, adjusted the leg length and moved the pedal bar to the end of the leg, where it belongs. Had to adjust the the back legs and it all looks normal now? Just need to work on the adjusting the pull rod lengths where they feel good. I wonder how the previous owner used this guitar. Perhaps he wasn't using the pedals at all. This made the guitar 23" from the floor to the bottom of the guitar. Works for me as I am only 5' 4" tall with short legs. Just thought the whole thing kind of odd. BTW: what would be a standard guitar height? _________________ Tele, Strat

I measured my guitar and from the floor to the top of the guitar it's 29".

This one is now 27 1/4" from the floor to the top of the E9 neck. Contacted Jim about parts and he is going to help me after the Dallas show. Thank you. _________________ Tele, Strat

I have owned 3 or 4 Sierras, but I don't remember the measurement floor to bottom of cabinet. I know the legs are all different but for reference:
Standard leg length for conventional screw in leg guitars such as Emmons, Zum etc. is 26 in. not including threads.
That would be the height of the guitar from the floor to the bottom of cabinet.
I know Sierras are different but perhaps this will help you for reference.
If you are 5'4", then standard height would likely be an inch or so too high anyway.
I really like Sierra guitars. I've had Universal 14's mostly, but have played a few Olympics. They have a unique character, feel and sound. They are built like a tank, unfortunately at this stage of my life, the other "tank" characteristics don't work for my old bones.
That guitar will give you many years of service. Good Luck. |

Has anybody come up with a good mod to lock the knee levers in place, short of tightening them down so they can't move? There must be some kind of way to stop them from coming towards the player. I don't mind them folding forward but I don't like that they will keep working up your knee as you play. They do on this guitar anyway. Thank you guys. _________________ Tele, Strat

I haven't been able to find them yet, but I do know they make a screw, that you can tighten to your wanted feel, then flip a lever to lock in place. Then when you want to release the lever, just flip the cams & you are ready to close the lid....
They are similar to this design, but not as big...

Thank you, Charlie.
I've seen those on control panel doors to lock them closed. Interesting idea. _________________ Tele, Strat
