After several drops and embaressing public searches i developed the idea and habit to keep the pedal bar over the bottom part of the case lid while fastening and unfastening, now any wing nut oopses just drop it to that safe place.

You could drill a small hole in the wing nut and run a string through it and tie it to the pedal bar. |

I replaced the wing nuts on my two Emmons GS-10s with these knobs. Lots easier to find, and harder to lose, after you drop 'em:

| I used 2 approximately 3/8 longer screws. I turned the diameter on the extra length so the wing nuts slide on. I haven`t dropped any in 10 years. |
