Hi Mike, I take it you have your E9th copedant sorted out. I'm sure you'll get lots of replies to your request. Try get hold of some earlier recordings by Buck Owens, Merle Hagard etc. Good steel playing there. Of course there are the more modern songs to listen too, but sometimes the steel work is really frightening!! Go see, and listen to as many Bands with steel players as possible. Try practicing in the dark to get your "ears" working, and above all, keep practising each and every day, you'll get there. Welcome to the steel world.

Hello Mike, try contacting Fran Newman she sells instruction materials from Jeff Newman who is and was a great steel player and teacher, her steel guitar school is called Jeffran college, if you do a search on the internet you will find their website, Fran has some good collection of woodshed workshop rythm tracks to learn and play along with, and welcome to the exciting world of steel guitar. |

Mike, the first thing I would recommend is to go and download the free beginners video on the Carter Web Site. It has some excellent information. And best of all it's free! Really get the basics down and understand how to make music and go from there.
