Only the rod? not the lever, bellcrank, etc? I have a few leftovers. Do you know how long it needs to be?

If it's the short linkage rod that connects the lever bracket to a pull bar (bell crank), I believe the bent end is somehow pressed into the lever. The bent end is beveled. I don't know for sure how Carter attached that end, but I would probably use some kind of clip or snap ring to hold it, if you can't recreate the beveled end and get it to stay.

Is this the rod you are talking about? Just bending a 3/32" rod. Putting it through the hole and using a clip to hold it (like Carter did) is all you need to do. Easy job. Bending the rod is the hardest part if you don't have a vice.

It isn't pressed in like I thought.

I have some of the rod you need. PM me your address and I'll send you a piece. I'll even put the bend in it for you. How long do you need it?

I would think the steel in a coat hanger would be quite soft, I would opt for a stainless steel welding rod myself. Whoa!
