Johnie, the case for your Franklin was built by Woody Woodell at Hooper Trunk in Nashville. Hooper Trunk used to be on 2nd Ave North, not far off of Broadway. Woody came up with the idea for a lighter case using vulcanized fiber, with just sides and ends to tack the fiber to. I worked there with Woody and Gary Cabe in the later 70's and early 80's. Paul Franklin Sr. bought a fair number of cases from Woody when he started building his steels. A great case, and very tough. Steve Hinson now owns (and builds) cases with the machinery that Woody originally used. I still have a hard-shell case Woody let me build for myself. A little nostalgia (for me). A great time to have lived in Nashville. |
