I have had a lot of amps in my lifetime but I have to say that I am very pleased with this little amp. The Vox delivers a pure tube sound along with excellent harmonics. I am using a Bugera 12" speaker with the amp and it sounds terrific.

According to the manual the output is 25 watts into an 8 ohm speaker , which is what the Bugera is , but is capable of 50 watts into a 4 ohm speaker. But the music power {at 25 watts } it delivers should be sufficient enough for any small gigs.

I am using a Boss Rv3 ahead of the amp and it handles it great. The amp is very quiet , no hiss/hum. The little amp also handles the C6th neck as smooth and rich as the E9th.

The amp only weighs around 2 pounds and would fit in your pocket without the handle. This weight along with the weight of the bugera speaker ,18 pounds , makes this an excellent choice for those concerned with weight.

I have played though tube amp simulators and they are no comparison to the pure tube sound the Vox gives. I highly recommend this amp to those looking for a tube sound without the weight or cost of a tube amp.

Thanks for the review, Greg, that sounds great. Do you find you have enough control over the EQ given there's no mid control?

I totally agree with the review above. I think this is an outstanding amp! Great tone, plenty of power, and it's as small as a pedal.

Absolutely. I had no problem at all dialing in the eq that I wanted for the steel , C6th and E9th.

I had bought a DV MARK II a while back and its a great amp, I just have a difficult time with eq and sound that I want.
I set the VOx eq up in 5 seconds to my preferences.

Hmmmm..... that NuTube is certainly intriguing! 50 watts of Class-D power, however is not much unless you have a ultra-sensitive (JBL-like) speaker....could not find the sensitivity specs on a Bulgera.

It was a lower priced speaker and cabinet , $159. But it sounds pretty good for the price. I would imagine with one of the speakers talked about on here that it would sound even better but Im pretty happy with this one.

I used the amp and speaker on our gig tonight. the volume was set at about 3/4 volume and provided plenty of volume for the band and dance hall. I really only cranked the volume pedal up on my lead parts. The band could not believe the quality and volume of the little amp. Several members in the dance hall complimented me on the sound I was getting. Thats always a plus.

All in all I'm very pleased with the amp.

Can the amp take pedals and effects?

Craig

I have used two boss pedals ,DD3 and Rv3 , with the amp and it responds very well to them.

MV50 clean is a great with pedals. I use a fuzz, OD, rotary sim, phaser, octave, boost.... The little Vox likes them all.
