Hi there.
Here we have the rare/unique Sierra Rock Slide. The Rock Slide bridges the gap between a traditional pedal steel and lap steel and was designed to be played standing up. This instrument is perfect for the guitar player that wants to switch instantly between playing guitar and lap/pedal steel.
The Rock Slide has two, hip actuated levers to bend strings (sort of) like a pedal steel. The current tuning is open E: B-E-G#-B-E-G#-B-E
The left lever can be locked allowing you to actuate both lever at the same time.
LL: B-E-G-B-E-G-B-E
RL: B-D-G#-B-D-G#-B-D
Both: B-D-G-B-D-G-B-D
So with the left lever locked you can change between open Emi and Gmaj. Just the left lever changes between open Emaj and Em. Just the right looks like it gives you an open E7 w/o the root. One cool feature of this tuning/copendant is that when the left lever is locked you can activate the right lever to play open G Dobro licks with the ability to use 'real'/full minor triads...something you can't do in open G.
The guitar has a triple raise/dual lower changer and uses standard Sierra pedal steel parts...so the copedant can be modified and more pedals/levers could be added if desired.
My understanding of the history of this particular instrument was it was owned by a notable turing Canadian rock act but can't for life of me recall who.
Another cool feature of this instrument is that the guitar portion pivots (and locks) on it's axis on the stand. This means that the fret board can be tilted forward towards the audience so they can see what your hands are doing.
The guitar comes with original hard case. It's dinged up on the outside but is fully functional. The guitar itself has some wear but nothing too outrageous. The previous owner added prismatic decal on they playing side. As you can see in the pictures the audience side is black with a worn white sierra logo and some worn white racing stripes. All hardware and electronics seem to function properly but due to the age, and rarity, of the item it is being sold as-is.
Buyer to pay any Paypal, or similar, fees. I will also accept money orders or cashiers checks if necessary (Online payments preferred.)
I will split packaging and shipping with the buyer.
I'd imagine there might be some people here that if ave more info on these guitars...feel free to chime in.

Does $850 seem like a reasonable price for this? I'd imagine this is a pretty niche item... _________________ Sixth wobbly wheel for: Uncle Bens Remedy |
