Just curious:
Anyone here have a steel break that just gets you every single time you hear it as of late?No matter where you might be - listening alone, a restaurant, the car, Christmas with your family - just a steel solo that sends chills down your spine even the 1000th time you hear it.
Today I decided mine is Marty Stuart’s “This One’s Gonna Hurt You†mainly because of the sheer fluidity of it. A killer 12 seconds from John Hughey, indeed.
Lemme hear ‘em! |

Two really make me sit up and take notice; on Ricky Scaggs' "Country Boy", and Tim McGraw's "Just To See Her Smile". _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Buddy Emmons' break on John Hartfords Gentle On My Mind. It's been 30 years since I first heard it and still makes my head spin every time I listen to it |

That's the one I would pick on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And Buddy's solo on Roger Miller's Tall Tall Trees on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. |

I agree with the Time Jumper's Sweet Memories (the entire take, and all it's parts are tearjerkers!), but, I'm going to have to say it's a toss up for me - and both are Jimmy Day: #1 - Charlie Walker - Pick Me Up On Your Way Down; and #2 - Johnny Bush - Farewell Party. |

Wow! This is unique. I can't really say it would be a favorite of mine but the tension it creates. Whew! Nice one Mr. Hughey. |

Pop a Top Again - the Jim Ed version. It's been in my head since Texas street dances as a kid. |

There are two that get me every time. Dan Dugmore’s solo on Linda’s Blue Bayou, and John Hughey on Vince Gill’s Look at Us. _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe. |

Buddy's turn around on DRIVING NAILS IN MY COFFIN by Johnny Bush. Almost sounds as if he has a compressor on.

Never get tired of this, "Together Again" by Tom Brumley, always gets my attention and would like to add Blue Bayou with Dan Dugmore and Linda Ronstad. Of course, like most all of us on here there are lots more
that are favorites. "Girl In The Glass by Mike Sigler and Buddy Emmons "Broken Down In Tiny Pieces", Oh well, the list goes on and on. J.R. _________________ NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose |

I agree with Ricky. That’s my number 2 favorite - right after the above mentioned Chalker ride. Followed by Jimmy Day’s open string work on the instrumental version of “Wild Side of Life “. |
