It's with much sorrow that I write that my good friend of 45 yrs., Dean Peterson passed away this past Saturday morning. Dean had been battling cancer for about the past year. He was 72.
I met Dean in the mid 70s while I worked the road in the club circuit grind. We played the "Hollywood" in Rochester, MN and that's where I met him. We became good friends and remained so from then until now.
Dean was a local steel player around SE, MN area and a very good one at that. Besides our mutual bind with the steel guitar, we were both avid fisherman. We're both Vikings and Twins fans as well. It has always been great to talk to Dean (we did so often throughout the yrs.) about steel guitar, amps, fishing, the Vikings and the Twins. Not much more than a month would go by over all those years that one of us didn't call the other to check-in on each other.
I'll miss my buddy very much. He was a good and true friend. He's gone on now to be with The Lord.
Please pray for his wife, Kathy and the family in this time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson

I'm sorry for your loss, Chris. That will leave a void.
He sounds as though he was a great pal. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Dean was unable to attend the yearly steel guitar event this past September hosted by Don & Peg Holtan, Rochester MN as he was in the hospital. Prayers for his family during their loss. Cherish fond memories. |

Thank you all for your kind words.
Brian, I appreciate you adding the link with Dean's obituary. In all the years I knew him and all the conversations we had, he never told me that he was once the State Champion in competitive archery. I knew he had done that and I knew most of the other things the article spoke of, but not that. It goes to show of how humble a man he was... never one to brag.
God bless Dean, Kathy, all his family, friends and all of you for your regards and sympathies.
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson |

I just now read this sad news. Dean was a great steel player and a wonderful person. When Dean went into the service I took his place with a group called "Lee & the Trail Blazers" from the Rochester area. I have not heard from him in a while and wanted to get together with him. May he rest in peace. He will be missed.
Our condolences to his family.
