George Ls EON Pickup

When I ordered my Rains SD10 I ordered it with an 18.5K Williams Truetone. Bob got the cabinet I had ordered and was ready to assemble my guitar, but had not received my pickup. He called and told me of the situation and said he could either put an E66 or an EON that he had ordered on it and if I wanted to we could change later. Being an impatient person, I asked him to install the EON and ship my guitar. I am really impressed with this pickup. Note separation and tone are great. Also, it holds together as far up the neck as I want to play. The other pickers in my group are equally impressed.I realize that this pickup is on a new steel, and this is probably not a fair assessment but the EON works really well for me. Bob received my Truetone after I got my guitar and sent it to me and yes I will put it on the first time I change strings as I am almost as curious as I am impatient. I wouldn't be suprised, however, if I go back to the EON. IF anyone is unhappy with their tone and considering a PUP change, you might consider an EON, especially if you prefer a humbucker.

Great pickup. I think that anyone who likes the E-66 would like the EON even more. Anyone who felt the E-66 was too thin, would find the EON to be the fix. It's essentially a beefed up E-66 but it was accomplished by changing the bar metal and not by changing the winding. So it's still clear and bright like the E-66, but much fatter and fuller. Worth a try.

From what i understand, the e66 has stainless steel blades and the EON has plain metal blades but the same winding 17.5, which i think is the same as the George L TW series. I ordered my Rains with a PF1 wich realy sounds nice on it, but If finances would allow it i would try 3 or 4 other PU just to satisfy my curiousity, but for now i'm going with "if it an't broke don't fix it".
