I posted last week to the effect that the decorative strip had become detached and I got several helpful responses regarding the best glue to use.
Here's the strip - there's glue residue along the length of it. Should I attempt to remove that and, if so, what can I use that won't affect the material?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

The strip is aluminum so not too much can hurt it short of ammonia based cleaners. Lacquer thinner would do it but not good to breathe - sand paper takes the most work but is safe and does a good job. |

Lighter fluid is probably a good option. _________________ Bill Cunningham

A razor blade scraper would probably also do the job, if the glue residue is dry. Make sure the wood is equally flattened before applying the glue. |

Goo Gone is a good prospective solvent. In any case, it won't hurt anything. |

Acetone will do it, just put it on good, let it set few minutes and old glue will peel tight off.
Goo gone did nothing to last one I did and neither did paint thinner. Acetone works great. Also, a blow torch will burn it off, just don’t get strip too hot to warp. _________________ Henry Matthews
