I picked up this ProLine Uke/Mando stand at Guitar Center for $15. It works great with my lap steels. Shown in the photo below is my Supro which has the smallest narrowest body of my 4 lap steels. The stand supports it fine. The box is shown in the last photo.

Here's another inexpensive one that works well with all my lap steels
GS5000 fold flat (Amazon, Musicians Friend, etc.)


and is more stable than a tripod IMO
