Anyone here tried them.
What is the difference in stainless vs. nickel in any brand? I know this only applies to wound strings.
thx

I had a set C-6 given to me recently and I think they sound really good. I had never tried them previously.

Bob,
I've tried the stainless strings and they seem to work very well. Nick |

The ones I have are stainless. As for the difference between the two, do a search. I seem to remember someone posting some very technical statistics by comparisons.

Do you usually use Stainless? I tried some Bill Lawrence SS on my P/P years ago and took them off the next day. But that was like 20 years ago!

Don't know on steel but for years I have used the Dean Markley strings on 6 string. Before that I used the GHS and custom gauged them to fit. Dean Markley has the "regular" set which is 10 to 46 and they work VERY well on 6 string. They are as bright as you would want while maintaining excellent tone and response. I currently use the 10s on the Gibson 335 and a G & L ASAT classic and they work well on both. Don't know about steel. I'm stuck on the Emmons SIT (not silencers) for the Zum. I am not a fan of stainless steel strings. To my ear they sound "thin". I like the fuller, richer tones coming from the nickel.
Also, there is more friction in conjunction with the bar with stainless.
PS: I don't use a stainless steel bar either.

Hi Bob. I have used these, and switched back to Ernie Ball strings, until last Sept. when I tried a set of nickel silver Jagwire strings. Everyone has a differenct sound they're looking for, and there is probably no one brand of string that will suit all, but if you haven't tried 'em, do so... I'll never use anything else. b0b sells them on the Forum if you're interested.

Bob,
Right now I'm using stainless, and that's just because someone gave me a whole case with 24 sets. Guess I'm just trying to use them up. The stainless are a tad thinner sounding than the nickel wound. But with my playing, I sound just as bad no matter what I use. Nick
