Went to see my band mates play in another band, the keys sounded great, every note, every chord etc, problem was he was to loud in the PA mix and took the vocals out.
So set 2 he turned down, away went the great sound but the vocals came back.
How many times has this happened to you as a steeler, you are sounding great one minute then have to turn down for many reasons and away goes that great sound you just spent $6000 to get. Then you add the $ for the amp, pedal, effects etc.
WE SHOULD TURN DOWN FOR THE VOCALS TO CUT, sometimes you win, and sometimes you... _________________ '70 D10 Black fatback Emmons PP, Hilton VP, BJS bars, Boss GE-7 for Dobro effect, Zoom MS50G, Stereo Steel amp, Telonics 15” speaker.

A good sound man could fix those problems - but a good sound man is as rare as moon dust in a Carolina garden. |

The vocals are more important to the song than the steel player. _________________ Bob |

True in principle, Bob, but that varies according to who's singing! _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

OK, I will risk putting my 2 cents in here. No matter how lousy the vocal is we as pickers are to try to complement the vocal at least that is what I was taught. If you are going to be the lead then you do not need a vocalist. This is an age old problem. Most Bands just get to turning up more and more and then the vocal is lost and it becomes a free for all and becomes just noise. Not good. Customers complain and stop having fun and stop buying drinks and then leave. Club owners are left holding the bag. And you still want to be paid. Ha! Bottom line is someone needs to be in control and say you are too loud. Being loud does not mean you are sounding good. Been there and done all this many times.
Just my 2 cents worth. J.R. Rose _________________ NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose |

So it's all instrumentals all night? The crowd will be gone before the first break.. |
