| I have a friend that has found a guy that has an early 60's Twin in good working order. The guy is asking $1200.00. I know some of these vintage Fenders can go for $3000.00 or more. Is $1200.00 a steal? |

$1,200 seems to be on the low end of the price range for an original blackface twin. Of course, condition is everything. The market for a twin is much narrower than the much more portable DeLuxe (for guitar players anyway). Most of us wonder how we ever used to lug those things around.  Silverface twins from the 70's can still be found for under $1,000.

If by "early 60's" you mean a Blonde or Brown telex Twin non-reverb, then yes it is a very very good deal. A '62 Twin is in the $4000-5000 range per Reverb.

Details, details, details. I have heard people describe all kinds of amps as "early 60s Twin Reverbs".
1. Exactly which model is it? It could be tweed Twin (some were made in 1960), white-tolex (no reverb, very early 60s starting in 1960, not many made), brown-tolex (not many made, no reverb, early 60s), blackface Twin Reverb (63-ca.67), or silverface Twin Reverb (various versions made from late 67 onward).
2. Originality and condition? Everything matters.
Pictures best, but we at least need a careful description with these kinds of details. Every detail matters, and frequently matters a lot. Prices can range from a few hundred to $10,000 or more depending on exact model, originality, and condition. |

Fender made so many twin reverbs that it’s not uncommon for them to show up offered by someone that may not be aware of the critical details.
Another reason to question what constitutes “ good working orderâ€.
Agreed , many details needed to evaluate this one. |
