Susan has inspired me to revisit my Tone-oto compositions. Using the tuning for the Japanese Koto. Instead of the floating bridges the Steel Bar makes a fine substitute.

That's beautiful, Roy. Beautiful tune, and there was a moment where I couldn't tell if you were pitch bending or using a bar. Very cool steel too. |

Charlie, the slurs and slides are created by Steel Bar movement.
This instrument was built for me by a neighbour/friend. The exotic woods and his time put it well over $3000. It is a real prize possession. Thanks for you nice comment.

Thanks all.
First off I called the instrument after the chap who made it. His name was Tony.
While Japanese Koto was the inspiration behind the building of the instrument I was also facinated by the souund of the Vietnamese Dan Bau. The Steel Bar can emulate that sound somewhat and combined with the Koto tuning intervals makes for a interesting musical experience.

Hi Jerry!
I found it helpful to leave a space by skipping a string slot between 4 and 5. I use the 5 string for a lot of melody lines and the space gets me in there quickly. See pic.
