Sounds like the pickup is not wired correctly. It has two coils and there should be 4 wires coming from it. I'll leave it to others to try to explain how to wire it properly. If only one side of the pickup is working you would get the symptoms you described. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

Paul I did notice that my C6 pickup is twice the distance than my E9th....sooooooo before considering a cracked.solder joint or bare wire I am going to adjust the height....put it in middle position and equal them out....how close is your back neck pickup to the strings, thanks. |

It sounds like maybe only one coil is being used.
Here is some useful information:

First thing to do is raise that PUP to about two quarters distance from the bottom of the strings. That's easy.
But I bet you'll still have most of the symptoms you described. If that is the case, it has to be incorrect wiring so that you are only getting one coil of the PUP. That's harder to fix, but not impossible if you have basic soldering skills. The thread linked by Lee B. has various people explaining the wiring of the BL705. Good luck.
A test you could run first before starting the soldering journey is to use a digital multi meter and test the output of the PUP. Insert an instrument cable into the output jack of the guitar and measure the output of each neck at the end of the instrument cable. I bet you'll find the C6th neck pickup puts out about half as many ohms as the E9th neck PUP. Such an outcome would confirm my theory. That's assuming you also have a BL705 in the E9 neck. A BL705 should be putting out a bit more than 20,000 ohms if both coils are working and engaged. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

Sometimes we overlook something simple. When you are checking the C6 pickup, make sure the selection switch is on C6 only, not in the middle on both E9 and C6 pickups. I had this problem on a guitar once and wben I quit using the selection switch on both necks at the same time, problem solved. I don't know why I had it on both necks to begin with. Only reason I can think of is if you are playing a song that you are jumping back and forth on both necks. |
