Hi everyone, Linda and I went to see The Possum last night, and what can I say, "LIVING LEGEND". It was great to see him last night.
But the true highlight was getting to see and hear Tom Killen play that beautiful Sho~Bud Pro 2, what a great sounding guitar and the player ain't to shabby either. Tom played some great licks during the show, but his solo on "The Race Is On" was COOL!!! It had shades of Lloyd Green all over it, you can tell that Lloyd has had a BIG influence on Tom and his career, and when we spoke about it after the show, he had a BIG SMILE.
If any of you all get a chance to make it to a George Jones show, make sure you hunt down Tom Killen, he is Great Person to talk to, with some COOL STORIES to tell, thanks Tom, Linda and I had a ball last night.

Hey Red - I was lucky enough to catch Tom with George last Sunday here in St. Louis - well Arnold, MO - and you're right...Tom was awesome!!! The whole band was great. Tom's tone and execution was perfect. Everything from The Race Is On to A Picture Of Me Without You just reached right out there. George wasn't too shabby himself either...
I was fortunate enough to be escorted to the show by my Daddy. George has always been his favorite artist and a big THANKS to Tom for getting him backstage to snap a picture with the living legend. Just goes to show you that Tom is not only a fine steel player but a super nice man. And I know why, being a Missouri boy, Tom's Mother was at the show, talk about a super lady!!! _________________ Miss Lana

I got to meet Tom recently as well. Haggard and Jones played the Ohio State Fair this past summer.
I didn't get back stage, but did go on stage. Relax, everyone. It was after the show and Tom had unplugged. We'd met and talked before the show and he wanted to show me the Sho Bud up close.
Quite a gig he had that night especially. He backed George and also a couple of duets with Merle; including a great original break on "Today I Started Loving You Again".
I hope you all bought a copy of the live CD. It's pretty much George's current show with lots of great fiddle, steel and guitar behind him. _________________ HagFan

Red, the Possum and Mark Chessnut were here at the County Fair in August. It was unquestionably the best show I have seen in some time The possum even said it aint country if there is no steel and fiddle!
Truly George Jones is a living legend! _________________ The Lone Prairie Steeler Pat |
