A quick note to fellow non-pedalers interested in early swing and "Hot Jazz" music...
Registration is live for the Red Hot Strings Workshop in Port Townsend, WA (May 15-19, 2019). The workshop is the brainchild of one of my favorite musicians, guitarist Matt Munisteri, and I'm thrilled and humbled to be joining the crew as the steel guitar instructor. Acoustic non-pedal playing will be the focus of the steel course, but electric players are equally welcome. In other words, no need to buy a 20's or 30's tricone just for the workshop!

| Highly recommended. Matt's concept is promising in including a wide variety of stringed instruments, which provides for band combinations. This is band music after all, that's where the fun is! |

So totally stoked!!! I just registered and decided to drive the 800 miles from Sacramento so I can actually bring my "stuff" in addition to the lap steel; an upright bass and a tenor or two...can't wait. The woodshed's gonna get a lot of use this winter.
