Well it kinda quit on me.

I am not a technician at all.

I Noticed in the middle of a steel lead break that my amp started heavily distorting as if I had accidently turn on my overdrive pedal and cranked up the gain which I had not. I also noticed that there was a yellow light that came on next to the red power light.

I Shut it off and turned it back on and got through the next 3 songs. It Quit distorting !!! It also had a hummmmm.. and white noise until it was turned off and restarted.


I have left a message a couple hours ago at Peavey and are awaiting a response back about a possible repair.

Any ideas?

Check to be sure the speaker leads are making a good connection to the posts on the speaker. I had a similar situation with my LTD 400 a few decades back, and that was the issue.

I'd also spray ALL the jacks, front and back, with a contact cleaner, and then insert and remove plugs into them rapidly (about 4 or 5 times). This will clean them and help keep them from corroding. There are also molex plugs inside that may need the same procedure, so you may have to remove the chassis. If you do, take necessary precautions to drain the power supply caps, and then spray all the controls, as well, with a cleaner-lubricant. Working them back and forth rapidly about 10 times will help to clean them, too. Cool

very common.

#1 stick a patch cord in the effects send in/out

If possible, remove the chassis, remove all connectors, burnish and clean them as well as all the in/out jacks.

Don't forget the reverb connector on the opposite side of the chassis.

These are great amps they just need a little love now and then.

Dave, any luck with Tonys suggestions? The patch cable is a real common sense approach and I keep one in the bottom of my amp just for this. Let us know.

Good morning.

No I feel this is a little more severe that just a dirty
pot or a jack needing cleaning.

I m wondering if Peavey still has a USA service department.
I haven’t gotten any response back from them
regarding this issue.
They used to be real good about returning calls.

I would like to send this amp to them for repair.

Send your amp in with your daytime phone number and a note explaining what the symptoms are. It will be repaired and our personnel will call you for your preferred payment method.

If you have a "ceiling" repair amount, include that amount on a note.
