Very sad news. Everybody who attended one of Scotty's conventions knew Stoney. He was more that one of Scotty's hosts. He was a friend. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

This is sad news indeed. Stoney was a major part of the ISGC for many, many years and a good friend to Scotty and all of our family. All of us are deeply saddened. RIP Stoney! |

Condolences.
I met Stoney at an Emmons seminar in St Louis. He sat to the right of me during the seminar. We were "Stoney and Stoner" together. |

A friend for 50 years. I first met him when he was playing the Knoxville fair with Cathy Hill and the Kountry Kings band. When I got my first steel, Stoney gave me my first lesson at Lynn's Guitars. I attended all the Smoky Mountain Steel Shows he organized. Saw him at Scotty's many times. Talked to him a number of times at Dollywood when he was playing the Kinfolks show. He has always been a part of my steel guitar journey. I hope to see him again when the time comes for me to take my final journey. Rest in peace, my friend. |

Well, this is a shocker too me. I did not know that he was ill, and perhaps he hasn't been. He was always so kind to Ralph Mooney and all of us in Moon's group. You could tell it was a natural thing for him to be kind. RIP, Stoney and Prayers for his family and loved ones. |

Played a lot of shows with Stoney. Good player and good guy. I think he was involved in getting all of the Knoxville local steel players up and running. I lived in Knoxville for about 20 years and I saw him fairly often during that time. He was my replacement at his last regular gig. Stoney will certainly be missed by all. RIP

So sad to hear this. While I didn't really know him, I always enjoyed Stoney's MC'ing at the St. Louis convention. My condolences to his friends and family. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
