I've been using Simichrome, which works very well at cleaning the chrome on my steels.
I know there have been other polishes floated, but I'd like to stay more 'green' if possible. (That Simichrome is really nasty).
I ran across Flitz, which claims to be 'green'.
Anyone try it?
Polishes I looked at stated they were not good for electoplated metal; I'm none too handy, but I believe those would be safe, correct?
Any suggestions - 'green' or not - are appreciated. _________________ 1979 MSA U12 Pedal Steel

This is what I use to maintain/protect the luster on the aluminum and other metal parts. It does a great job cleaning, smells pleasant. I can’t say if it’s certified green?

Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish. Will give you mirror finish. Use a polishing cloth that won't scratch. |

I agree with Mothers (It available in most auto parts stores), a microfiber cloth helps to polish as well as terry cloth. _________________ Regards, Craig

Thanks, everyone.
If there's any other polishes some of you really prefer, please post.
If there's any polish to avoid, please post as well. _________________ 1979 MSA U12 Pedal Steel

I tried a green (moldy) polish sausage one time. Didn't work all that well.
Another vote for Mothers. As far as being green, ??????
Are the parts you say are chrome plated really chrome plated, or just polished aluminum? Most guitars I have seen have polished aluminum parts. My Mullen does have plated endplates though. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . California Customs--aluminum oxidizer and purple polish works great and takes very little effort. You can be done in 5 minutes. Check it out online. |

I use Flitz and Semicrome. Both work well. After polishing I use a spray on motorcycle wax that I have for bikes. |
