I have a standard peavey magnet that came off (I think) a Peavey 1501-4 speaker. I forget why I ended up with this magnet, however, will this 1501-4 replacement basket fit any Peavey BW magnet? Seems like this replacement basket looks a bit different than the BW speakers I had in the past.

I've never seen a Peavey speaker that looked like that.

Me either. Could that have been what they used on their neo speakers? _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Here is a picture of the new Session 115 extension speaker cabinet with a 1501-4 Neo magnet BW speaker.
It doesn't look like that model basket.

I spotted that pic posted on EBAY as a replacement basket for a Peavey 1501-4 speaker.
However, I agree it doesn’t look like a standard Peavey speaker frame. It is listed as new.
I emailed the seller for clarification. |

Peavey definitely builds Black Widow baskets, 1502 etc., with this frame for several years now, way before the issue of the new Session amp, but I don't know whether there was a 1501 with this frame design. They have changed some designs off and on over the years, so it's possible.
The basket should have an identifying stamp or label on it somewhere. The older ones were by the terminals.
As usualy, I defer to Mike Brown.
Edit: ...and oh yes, the current and magnets all the way back to, but not including the early flat magnet spider web should work on this basket. Again, I defer to MB.

The BW frame was changed about two years ago from a silver frame to the present Spider frame. It's the same basket that we always had, but is now black and retro fits all of the BW and BWX models of Black Widow speakers. However, the Lo Rider and Low Max are recommended to be used with their respective magnets.

The 1501-4 shown in the Peavey catalog that Mike linked is exactly like the one in the Peavey speaker in my earlier post. |

Well, Mike doesn't really say if the 1501-4 BW was ever offered in the black frame.
If the seller is a legitimate dealer, as it appears to be, the text description should be correct, as the model number matches up to Mike's chart minus the first couple digits.
It could be the seller is just using a generic photo of a BW RB. I've seen similar things concerning the 1501 on other electronics store sites.
I'm sure it could be returned if not the proper one. You might even be able to order the correct one from Peavey.
Again, all BW baskets have the model and imp. on a label near the terminals. That should tell the story. ON this particular photo, I can't see it though. It would also be marked on the shipping carton. |

There is a single digit change in numbers between the replacement basket and the complete speaker. |
