Ricky,
I hate to even ask, since you've been such help lately what with the tape and all. But I was wondering if you could help me with a Lloyd Green lick(you seem to be an expert!). It's at the beginning of "Lovin' Machine" by Johnny Paycheck. It's a descending chromatic line, real fast. It sounds deceptively simple, still I can't figure it out. There's a simular lick at the beginning of "Paying for my raisin'" by Loretta Lynn, maybe even the exact same, I'd have to go back and listen to it. Any pointers?

Thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris; Lloyd has a technique with his hand that is very abrupt sounding when he picks this pass. The key to it is to keep the hand bouncing, while poppin' those strings with the picks; and make the transition between the grip change very quick and don't loose time, so it sounds like that great down hill run, Lloyd is so inventive for. I hope that makes since and have fun.
Ricky

I should put up some of the other phrases he does in this tune... Lloyd is just KILLING it here.
