I've been all over the board trying to figure out an E-oriented lap steel tuning, and ran up on this one: E-C#-E-G#-B-E. I believe it's an E6 variation, and seems pretty versatile. Is anyone familiar with that can suggest scales, chords, etc. I like being able to hit the 1 and 6m chords straight bar on the same fret. _________________ Mid 70's Shobud LDG, Peavey Nashville 112, Boss RV-3, lots of other stuff I should sell since it ain't being used.. |

Change that 1st E (6th string) to an A and you'll also have a 4 chord and it's maj7 available on the same fret. bOb turned me on to that tuning a couple years ago and it's the one I use the most on six string laps. Even though you're tuning to an Amaj9 chord, you can treat it pretty much like an E tuning. |

Hello Ralph, I use E7th a lot and find it very useful. I don't know much about Musical Theory and just play by ear. Here is a Video of mine where you can hear it played.

Hey Ralph, I'm on the east side, at the Foothills to the Smokies, in a little town called Etowah, halfway between Chattanooga & Knoxville.
Good luck with the tunings. I like the E7 because it lends itself to easy playing of melody lines. _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)
