I met a man whose dad played fiddle in these parts, notably with Tommy Hancock. He'd sat in with Bob Wills once
and was invited to join Roy Clark in Nashville in Hee Haw days, but his wife was ill and he had to stay close to home.
He was a big guy they called Big Dog sometimes, he had a sense of humor about it that I reckon Clark enjoyed.
Did some backing of Tex Ritter films; he was a multi-instrumentalist but not on the road.
I found it to be an interesting story and wondered if anyone out there has played with Curly. |

Charlie, I found this which mentions Curly, played with the Maines Brothers at one point along with Wally Moyers Sr. and Frank Carter.

Keep digging Charlie, I saw he was nominated for a plaque on the west texas hall of fame, not sure if he made it, but if not maybe something you should pursue.

| Curly was a great guy and a masterful musician.. The first two years I played steel was with Tommy, Curly was in the band most of that time, I learned so much from him. He and my Dad were very close friends.. |

Very cool, Wally. I'll tell his son Don who'll get a kick out of it. It sound like he was a pretty competent musician.
I know that I was pretty impressed with his accomplishments.
Don did say he remembered when his dad got off the road, in the music he listened to at home were instrumentals. I found that interesting. |

That was just after my time. I went to college, Joey joined the circus. Curly was contemporary with Wally's dad.

I will get the album, its just rougher cuts of the first 3 MCA albums, which to me are amount my favorites, so it would be nice to hear them unpolished. I hear a few samples and they are similar but different.
