I had the pleasure of listening to my friend Richard Comeaux in Breaux Bridge LA. last night. He is one of the greatest players and a super nice guy. We drove an hour and a half just to watch him play. He sounded so good on his Rittenberry. Great tone delivery, touch, and his playing is second to none. Super fast and tasteful. If you ever get over toward Lafayette LA, he works with Yvette Landry and others. She performs a lot of Classic Country and some Western Swing and is a very good vocalist. It was Yvette Landry and Richard, they sounded like a full band! Really nice listening music. Richard is a monster player and fun to watch. He is really nice guy. |

Danny do you play regularly anywhere?
I saw you last year at the Mississippi show and enjoyed your playing.
Also, is Richard related to Johnny Comeaux who is also a steel player? |

Hi Pookie and thank you, I always enjoy the Gulfport Show. I'm not sure if Richard and Johnny are related.
I play on the 3rd Saturday of each month at the Grand Country Junction show in Satsuma, LA. (about 20 miles east of Baton Rouge right off of I-12). We do a Classic Country Stage Show each month. I also play with a local singer named Clifton Brown who sings traditional country. |

Richard was the first real pro steeler I ever saw. My first steel show. 25 years ago ? Hammond Louisiana.
Some other guy named Jimmy Day played as well. A pretty memorable day for me.
Richard totally crushed it. I’ll never forget it. He’s only gotten better, and he’s a great guy as well. |

Nice post Danny. Wish I would have known you were in my neck of the woods as I frequent that establishment. Nice comments about Richard, all well deserved. Richard may not post so I will reply to Pookie’s question about Johnny Comeaux. Richard never met him nor did I. We heard he had passed on. Has he? As close as he was in miles, it is sad that we never made a point to visit. Richard also plays with a Cajun group appropriately named High Performance. At times, he plays with another hot group, Wayne Toups, Zydecajun... one more, with an 8-piece country band, Country Roundup. Stays busy. _________________ "One never retires from music, any more than one retires from breathing." |

Danny, Richard is as good as it gets in this part of
the world as you are. You, Richard, and Charlie Moore were the top of the call list if I was unable to make a gig with David Morgan. They always told me to take as much time as I needed if they had one of you guys to fill in
His work with Evette is terrific and when you add Beau Thomas on fiddle it becomes a monster trio.

Mention his name in Louisiana and you will hear a great player. His teacher was and still is Mr. Milton Guilbeau who is also a great steel player and fiddle player. He is well-known in Louisiana too. Teeco is Richard Comeaux's nickname and he always has a smile. I am proud to call him my friend. Thanks for the info Danny. Hope I can get down to see y'all soon! _________________ Use it up,wear it out, make it do,or do without..... |

I can't tell you how many years I've bees knowing Richard Commeaux. I used to go over to his house and we would sit and cut up for hours on our steels. He was playing a Dekley U12 and I was playing an EMCI S 12/B6. His nickname is teco pronounced Tee Co. Richard is not a real big guy hence the nickname. I credit Richard for helping ma get over that hump as he had given me lots of materials from when he went to Jeffran. He's a great guy to know and play with. He has the perfect hands for playing steel unlike the Sasquatch hands hanging on the end of my arms! I was invited to his wedding way back in the day but couldn't make it but the baby he and his wife had now plays lead guitar in the band that I play in. Just thought I'd throw that in and Milton Guilbeau, I'm coming to visit soon! _________________ Rittenberry Prestige(2) |

Nice, very nice! He's got a great imagination, and I have to admit that that's probably the best version of Sleepwalk I've ever heard. |

Richard is a great player and a great guy. I play at a lot of the same clubs in South Louisiana where he plays and whenever I talk to people his name always comes up. |

At the Phoenix show a few years back, his performance of Lloyd Green's, "I Can See Clearly Now" was absolutely flawless. |
