Am I correct that it is Buddy Emmons who plays on this album?

Last year I bought a compilation of George Jones, called The Tender Years, it has 175 early songs. Now I'm trying to find out who plays steel on which track. The songs of George Jones Sings Bob Wills are also included. A real treasure, early Jimmy Day, Herb Remington, Lloyd's first session with all 4 songs he recorded than, etc. All for less than $10 on Google Play. Sorry for my "commercial" but it's a treasure.

Sounds more like Jimmy Day to me.

I have a CD of this somewhere.

I seem to recall it was Gene Crownover on steel.

I just received the Hoodoo Records re-release. The liner notes say "Unidentified personnel but probably ... Red Rhodes (steel guitar)".

This CD also includes "George Jones Salutes Hank Williams" which definitely has Buddy Emmons on steel.

I thought Jimmy Day played steel on both those albums? Sure sounds like it.

I'm just going by the liner notes in the Hoodoo CD. They might be wrong. I wasn't aware that Red Rhodes was ever a Nashville musician.

...or that he ever played on a George Jones recording...
