Pete Martinez, and LA steel player that worked with Tex, Jimmy Wakely, and others, told me that he had a Bigsby console made soon after Joaquin's T-8 that had the case be part of the stand of the guitar.
Pete moved back to Wichita Falls in the early 50's, but hung on to the Bigsby. It was stolen in the mid-80's and he lost all interest in playing steel after that. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Hey Basilh,
Sorry to throw you off about merle Travis' Bigsby steel guitar! I posted some photos of it but I didn't want to reveal the location with my phone's GPS, so I said I was in France to throw off any would-be steel guitar thieves who might track it down using GPS positioning!!
Travis' Bigsby steel is actually in Southern California....yes, in a storage unit.
