36 years ago I met my Wife Lisa. I was playing for Freddie Hart and she was in the opening band, singing. By talking with her I found out she played a SHO-BUD maverick steel. So I thought I'd better marry her. 34 years later we're still going strong. I relate that to our musical backgrounds that have kept us together.
Anyway, here is a PRIMATIVE recording of us just having some fun around the house. Only me on steel and her playing Mando-Guitar. She is singing through a guitar amp with some reverb.
I'm using my ZUM, Katana 100 amp, Zoom 70 reverb/delay pedal and a Zoom recorder H4N.
Here is it, blemishes and all, but happily married with Music as our glue!

| Love it!!!! My wife does not play music but we have been together for 45 years now. She goes with me on all my shows. Big supporter. A couple weeks ago I was listening to a recording with Paul Franklin on it, and she told me, not knowing who it was, "I like your playing better than that guy". "I was ready to throw my stuff off a bridge". I did get a big laugh out of it after I told her who Paul Franklin was and what all he has played on that she listens to on the country stations every day!!!!!! Now that is support!!!!! |

Ron that's good stuff.
But so far we only know your wife by She, and Her.

My wife is a musician. Currently she is the rhythm guitar player in our band (and does vocal harmony). She has a GFI Expo S-10 that she "somewhat" plays, along with keyboards and bass.
Having an understanding musician wife is a major asset. |

Nice, Ron! I enjoyed the song and the story. I always liked the tune "Easy Loving" and still sing that today.
I met my wife when I was at the Hank Thompson School of Country Music at Claremore College in Oklahoma. I played steel in the CJC Country Band and she played piano for the select chorus at the school. We were the two in music theory class who got the concepts so we got together and celebrated 42 years on July 9th... |

Actually Jack, that could describe MY efforts. I "somewhat play"!
But I have a very patient wife. And she has no musical background, so I have been able to fool her into thinking I'm becoming a steel player!

Great vocalist, so we work together a lot.

Very nice Ron!
When I first met my future wife in 1976 I was playing full time (albeit for very little money) in a fairly well-known local rock band. She is not a musician..
We got serious and decided to get married, but before we did, I had a talk with her about the whole 'music thing', explaining that it was really something I loved to do, and it wasn't going to change. I asked point blank if she could deal with that, and she said she could.
I know a TON of guys who can't play out as much as they may like because the wife 'won't allow it', or if they do, they get locked out of the house or worse. How can you actually be in any frame of mind to play music with that in the back of your mind? I sure couldn't do it.
To this day, my wife has never once given me any ultimatums, threats, or otherwise discouraged me from playing. Sure, there have been times when she wished I wasn't quite so busy, but she understands. I count my blessings every day when I hear from some guys what they deal with at home to do what they love to do. A supportive partner is huge!
Sidebar: When I first started dating my wife and I was in the rock band, I had no shortage of potential girlfriends, partly because I was the cool guitar player guy. Later I asked my wife if she started dating me because I was a musician and in a band, she replied that no, she didn't. She dated me 'despite' the fact that I was a musician. Ouch.. |

When my wife and I got married 45 years ago I said to her that I would always play music so she shouldn't complain. We agreed that that was the way it would be.
Now she's getting back at me. I want to quite playing out and she won't let me. So things don't work the way you want them to.

Married 47 years, I envy the couples that play (music) together. I'm a long time banjo, dobro, guitar and (short time) Pedal Steel player. My wife is not musical but she supports my hobby 100%. Knowing how much I wanted to take up PSG she told me in Feb. 2017 "why don't you get one" I was on the phone with Fred Justice and placed my order in minutes. I know that black Pedal Steels sound better LOL, but her favorite color is blue so I have a blue Justice Pro Lite.

When I worked for Tom Bradshaw, at Scotty's, in the '80's he was selling a tee shirt that had a cartoon on the back that had a guy playing his pedal steel and a woman in a negligee standing there with her arms crossed and the caption said "Priorities".
