Got a real nice 90's Fessy SD-10 (3x4) recently and like the guitar a lot but am not thrilled with the pickup. It's a George L with just the signature in gold - not marked "NEO" or anything - not sure of the model. I'm assuming it's the factory pickup. Hard to describe why I don't like it - it just sounds 'gritty' to me - not smooth and pretty. I just finished 38 performances of "Always...Patsy Cline" and it bothered me through the whole run. Amp was an Evans JE200 with a HOF Mini reverb in the loop and strings on the steel were pretty new. Maybe it was just the sound in the theater and I couldn't hear very well - not sure. Just wondering what other Fessy players like in the pickup department.

I was happy with a re-issue 705 in the Fessy I had until I installed an Emmons single coil wound to 19.5K and it was a perfect match!

My SD10 Fessenden has a Bill Lawrence 710 and I am very pleased with it. Although I still have the Fessy, I now play a D10 Zum. But back when I played the Fessy all the time, people, (most of the time musicians) were always telling me how good it sounded.

If the George L has no markings on the casing it's probably a 10-1 !!

Try a Telonics 409 !! Very Happy They make any guitar sound fabulous.
