Any one ever tried a telonic pup in a G.F.I ? Also did it improve your sound enough to to make it worthwhile ? I don't know if the pup alone with out the Vol. pedal, and or Telonic amp would noticeably give you a lot of change . Maybe some of you have went this route before and could give your take on this. Thanks. |

Ive had the GFI, and Ive used a lot of telonics pickups. Never had the Pickup in my GFI, but I’m guessing it would sound great.
I used the pickups without a Telonics amp, and it sounded great.
Obviously you need to check your dimensions. The folks at Telonics are really helpful. You can call and get what you need.
If you do it, let us know what you think. Good Luck ! |

I installed one in my Ultra S-12 and had the stock p/u re-installed. Wanted an Alumitone, but it was too tall to fit. (The Telonics p/u sounds great in another guitar.) _________________ GFI Ultra D-10 keyless

Installed Wallace Truetone in my GFI Ultra and it really sounds great as I really prefer a single coil pickup |

I used to make the tonealigner pickups which were basically copied by the good people at telonics. In my experience a pickup will not change the sound enough to be worth it unless you really love your gfi. Different steels are like different singers. Pickups are like microphones. _________________ Bob |

Brandon, which Telonics pup did you install and did you have to trim any material from the pup to make it fit? Also, did you use the aluminum or plastic base mounting plate? |

I have bought and tried a lot of pickups...
The Tonealigner sounded better to me than the Telonics copy. Also I did not need to adjust the Tone aligner much.
My assumption was that Telonics would have somehow made improvements...
I suspect that it was designed specifically to work best with their amps. |

I installed a 429 (I think) on a 12 string GFI using the plastic one. No trimming required. |
