I have only heard about these, and saw a few pictures, never seen or heard one live let alone owned and played one... this model Iā€™ve never even heard off 1964 Standel Custom 83L15V ...

I've got one. It's no powerhouse, but it sounds heavenly.

yes, thatā€™s what I heard, that tone is amazing, Iā€™m not worried about the power since we play small venues anyway, or I play at home, tone is what Iā€™m after šŸ˜Š

That amp is pretty beat up. Just look at the white piping over the name badge.

The electronics is actually the same on the "Custom" as on the "Imperial" head from the same "Transistorized" period. They put out about 35 watts. All the modules are different from the full-transistor period schematics that are online, so beware. I have had to reverse engineer a number of these modules (which is not an easy task) in order to repair a number of these hybrid amplifiers.

Something else you need to keep in mind:
This amp is rated for 16 ohms.
That could prove problematic should the 50+ year old JBL speaker need replacing

Hey Damir, bring this over the next time we have ā€œsteel nightā€ at Mikeā€™s. I would love to play through this piece of history, as Iā€™m sure the others would as well.

You shouldn't be! From my experience they are super reliable. Also, don't sweat it if a preamp module goes bad. My amp guy built one from scratch for my Custom XV and it is the better sounding channel now.

thank you my friend šŸ‘
