I'm trying to find info on lightweight cabinets and speakers. I'm currently using the Peavey 112e cabinets. They sound great but I'm looking for less weight without giving up tone. Either 12" or 15". _________________ Smokey

Smokey, I've always been happy with cabs made by Tommy Huff who is a Forum member. Lots of info here on the Forum. His cabs weigh about 12 lbs without speakers and look great. One of mine is covered in black western tolex and the other in brown western tolex with a leather handle. Over the years he has built 5 or 6 cabs for me. I am using 15" speakers with Neo magnets that weigh just over 7 lbs. A Telonics in one, and an EPS 15C in the other. Both speakers are made by Eminence. |

A solid pine cabinet is generally lighter than a plywood or MDF cabinet. Don't make the cabinet too small. A Twin Reverb or Peavey Session size works well with either a single 15 or 2 twelves. Open back is my preference. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

I have a TRM pine cabinet that I really like, he makes them in a variety of configurations. Without tolex, it does get banged up pretty easily though |

When asking for the best... It is best to mention a price range.
The best is not always the cheapest. |
