I've been drooling over your lap steels since I joined the forum four years ago. Might be time to pull the trigger. Do the bodies already have a finish coat? It looks like it but I shouldn't assume. PM sent.

Thanks Bill I sand too 2000 grit then use true oil about 10 coates of true oil steel wool between each coat . Let it cure for two mouths . Then use micro sanding pads start at 2000 grit an go up to 12000 then use wood polish an buff. Each guitar in picture has this finish. No finish to crack later ... if u make scratch lightly sand an oil wit true oil just that easy.

I use a stew mac jig for tuner holes they use slotted key head tuners u can use three on plate or individual. The cost from $10 to $400 a set the $10 set work s good but I put Grover keys on mine to sell to public. The jig I use makes 3 on a plate work perfectly so it's easy to install keys. Pickup router for humbucker or p90. I had severa people buy the bodies there well please.

Johnie,

I'm interested in the tear-drop shaped guitar (third down from the top and, I believe, the one you show the backside and headstock of in the two pictures above your last post). Is that guitar 25" scale as well? What is the neck width and the string spacing at the bridge and the nut?

Thanks, Bill S

Bill string spacing would be same as standard tele at nut a hair over 3/8 probably 5/16 at nut I can’t chance string spacing at pickup end an keep strings running over center of magnet pole. I could change with blade pickup but still wouldn’t gain or loose much spacing. Know if u want I can have some one wind a pickup an customize the spacing.
