I'm working on a roller nut that will be compatible with a Multibender. String height will be 1/2" with .419 string spacing. It'll mount with two #4 wood screws. A single set screw will hold the axle rod in place so it can be taken apart easily to change roller sizes. The base will be aircraft grade aluminum. Stock rollers will be made of phosphor bronze in .004 increments from .015 to .056. I expect the complete nut will have a price of $75. Individual rollers will be available in stock sizes for $6 each. Custom gauged rollers slightly higher. I'd like to hear your opinion on this project.

With the addition of holes spaced at .419 in the "rail" portion of the base, it could also be used as a bridge. Twice the sales! Is the string spacing at .419 because of the rollers and the dividers?
How wide is the overall piece?

I think you'd get more sales to homebuilders with a .375" spacing, if that's possible. I don't really know anything about multibenders though, so maybe .419" is optimal. Is .419" what you usually use on your Melbert lap steels, Bob?

The machinist measured the Multibender string spacing on his laser thingy and determined it to be .419. This would give the same string spacing at the bridge and nut. It could easily be made with .375 string spacing for an 8-string but then there would be a taper from bridge to nut if used with a Doosy Multibender. The Melbert normally has .406 spacing for 6-string and .375 spacing for an 8-string without a bender.

Bill, I hadn't thought of going beyond a companion nut for the Multibender but you have opened up some interesting possibilities. It's possible to make both a roller nut and roller bridge for use without a Multibender. I'll get all the dimensions to you later.
