Guys, last year I purchased this 1970 Emmons from one of our finest members, Billy Knowles. I had patiently awaited for a vintage PP to refurbish and keep for my playing pleasure. There's just something magical about these guitars that every other guitar is judged by comparison. I have since lost all desire to play and don't remember the last time I actually sat behind a steel. Billy detailed what had been changed on this particular guitar including the pedals and knees moved one space over which I find quite comfortable. This guitar has amazing tone and sustain with the original pickups wound to 15K.
Since I've had it I patched the small 1/4 inch hole that was drilled between the necks to where it's minimally noticeable without changing the mica. I removed the "Gil" nameplate which was quite a challenge as the glue used was superman strength! The live strings decal was also removed. I removed all of the pull and push rods as I started the refurbish process and then, with so many other things going on in my life, lost the desire to have anything to do with music. I have a number of new parts that I purchased from Billy such as two new chrome fretboards, rods, collars, bell cranks, etc. which is far more than needed as the majority of the current parts are fine.
Maybe someone else wants to complete the restoration who still has the desire or resell after completion. I'm asking what I have invested minus the time that I've already put in. $2250 plus shipping. I don't need any trades as I will likely be parting with most of my equipment anyway. The price is firm and if it doesn't sell no problem. I will just keep it in the closet and one day get around to completing it. I have attached Billy's post when I purchased it and the receipt of the parts I purchased.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave, is that scratches on the center front apron of this guitar or the live string decal you referenced? |

Dave,
That is the live strings decal on the front apron rather than scratches although the pic does make it appear scratched. The Emmons has a new home so this one can be closed.
Thanks,
Dave |
