Hey, all. Having issues w/ a circa 2010 Excel Superb D10. Purchased secondhand, it has always given me trouble when selecting the C6 neck & won’t sound out until I tap the C6 pickup or touch the bar to one of the poles (both are stock single coils). As I don’t often play C6 out, it hadn’t been an issue, but more recently the C6 has gotten darker and quieter. Thoughts? Anyone have an Excel D10 wiring diagram? Trying to differentiate between wiring & p/u gremlins.

The tip off for me is when you say you have to tap the pickup. That says to me it is a bad pickup, or a wire broken right where it goes into the pickup.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

Thanks, Scott. I was thinking along the same lines- just want to see if there have been similar experiences out there. The guitar is residing with a luthier/fixit guy as I just don’t currently have the diagnostic or soldering chops for it & no time to acquire those skills in the near future.

Yep, sounds like a pickup problem to me. If your tech is good, best case, you'll get it back in a short time with a modest bench charge. Worst case a pickup rewind will be required.
Good luck to you in any case.

Lollar does rewinds also, but the last one I had done took 5 months to complete.
I would go with Jerry. He is A Heck of a nice guy.
