Hi to all. Does anybody out there have a copy of the Andy Volk/Chuck Wilson DVD of Billy Hew Len's lessons and conversation? I am reaching out to get a copy from anyone I can, and would deeply appreciate any advice or direction.

I second that emotion! This is actually the first I've heard of any Billy Hew Len lesson video. He was truly one of the great Hawaiian steelers,and any more video other than the few that are on YouTube would be of tremendous value to any lover of Hawaiian Steel Guitar.Mahalo

I have it somewhere and will make it available if I can find it! I moved about a year and a half ago and 50% of what I'm looking for in my life on any given day seems to be somewhere else. Chuck Wilson and I donated a bunch to the HSGA. I wonder if they still have any? BTW, this was a DVD in name only - just a convenient medium at the time (12-13 years ago) to store audio files. Hal Smith was the person with the drive and foresight to create the recordings in the field.

Count me amongst the curious seekers. Far too little exists online about Billy Hew Len. I'd heard his story, and his album with Barney Isaacs (Steel Guitar Magic) is a favorite of late. I found the Lorene Ruymar book on Hawaiian Steel Guitar at my local library and it has a great write up of his story.

I've seen him play with Aunty Genoa Keawe. He was overflowing with aloha.
I read the transcript of that tape. If you know your theory really well it could be inspiring. I don't, however I just came across this inspiring recording.
