Speed Pockets
E9th speed picking-Nashville style
Lesson three
By Ron Hogan

Included are two separate lessons on E9th, each on the pockets to play over a one chord. Each one is a speed pocket lick as used by many Nashville players.
These lessons are the same as a student would take one on one with me in Nashville. They teach the patterns that can be used over many songs. Each phrase can be knitted together to use with all types of songs and various chord structures.
We have included the:
Noted tablature
Actual samples of the licks played over a rhythm track at full speed.
The lick is played at fast speed and also slow speed.
Three rhythm tracks, each at different speeds allowing you to practice building your muscle memory.

Plus, a bonus lick taught in audio.

The E9th tuning used is what every player uses. A, B & C pedals plus three knee lever that lowers your second string a half tone, raise the E’s a half tone and the E’s a half tone. My knee lever is noted as RL to lower the E’s. RR ½ to lower the 2nd string a half tone and LL that raises the E’s a half tone.

Ron: You must play the Day set-up. I do too. That RKL lowering 4 & 8 is a Sho-Bud thing I guess. I have mine that way too. Tommy.....
